Why Is The Sky Blue?

The sky appears blue primarily due to a phenomenon known as Rayleigh scattering. This occurs when sunlight interacts with the gases and small particles in Earth's atmosphere. The color of the sky can also be influenced by atmospheric conditions such as pollution, smoke, or dust, which can scatter light differently, sometimes giving the sky a hazy or reddish appearance. Additionally, the sky appears paler near the horizon because the scattered blue light must pass through more air, reducing its intensity and allowing other wavelengths to mix in, resulting in a lighter color.
